Global asymptotical behavior of the Lengyel-Epstein reaction-diffusion system

چکیده
The Lengyel–Epstein reaction–diffusion system of the CIMA reaction is revisited. We construct a Lyapunov function to show that the constant equilibrium solution is globally asymptotically stable when the feeding rate of iodide is small. We also show that for small spatial domains, all solutions eventually converge to a spatially homogeneous and timeperiodic solution. © 2008 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

The global existence of solutions and asymptotic stability of a reaction-diffusion system
This paper studies the solutions of a reaction–diffusion system with nonlinearities that generalise the Lengyel–Epstein and FitzHugh–Nagumo nonlinearities. Sufficient conditions are derived for the global asymptotic stability of the system’s solutions and confirmed through numerical Examples.
متن کاملBreathing spiral waves in the chlorine dioxide-iodine-malonic acid reaction-diffusion system.
Breathing spiral waves are observed in the oscillatory chlorine dioxide-iodine-malonic acid reaction-diffusion system. The breathing develops within established patterns of multiple spiral waves after the concentration of polyvinyl alcohol in the feeding chamber of a continuously fed, unstirred reactor is increased. The breathing period is determined by the period of bulk oscillations in the fe...
متن کاملBifurcations of Patterned Solutions in Diffusive Lengyel-epstein System of Cima Chemical Reaction
Bifurcations of spatially nonhomogeneous periodic solutions and steady state solutions are rigorously proved for a reaction-diffusion system modeling CIMA chemical reaction. The existence of these patterned solutions shows the richness of the spatiotemporal dynamics including Turing instability and oscillatory behavior. Examples of numerical simulation are also shown to support and strengthen t...
متن کاملTuring Patterns in the Lengyel-epstein System for the Cima Reaction
The first experimental evidence of the Turing pattern was observed by De Kepper and her associates (1990) on the CIMA reaction in an open unstirred gel reactor, almost 40 years after Turing’s prediction. Lengyel and Epstein characterized this famous experiment using a system of reactiondiffusion equations. In this paper we report some fundamental analytic properties of the Lengyel-Epstein syste...
متن کاملSIMULATION OF TURING PATTERNS IN A CHEMICAL REACTION-DIFFUSION SYSTEM ERIK MOSEKILDE and OLE JENSEN
The emergence, growth and stabilization of stationary concentration patterns in a chemical reaction-diffusion system are studied by numerical simulationsof the Lengyel-Epstein model. This model represents a key to understanding the recently obtained Turing structures in the chlorite-iodide-malonicacid system.
